Description
If there's one underwater encounter that defines diving in Bali, it's this one: reef manta rays gliding through their cleaning stations at Manta Point, often close enough to see the individual markings on their undersides. This full-day trip departs from Sanur on Bali's mainland, with a 45-minute speedboat crossing to Nusa Penida.
You'll complete two boat dives — one almost always planned around a manta site (Manta Point or Manta Bay, conditions permitting), the other exploring Nusa Penida's coral walls and drift sites. Between dives, relax on the boat with lunch and refreshments included.
Sighting rates at Manta Point run above 90% year-round, since resident mantas use the site's cleaning stations daily rather than passing through seasonally.
If you're visiting between July and October, keep an eye out for mola mola (sunfish) as a bonus — this is the one window they show up in these waters too. A valid diving certification (PADI Open Water or equivalent) is required to join this trip.

Do I need a diving certification?
Yes — a PADI Open Water certification or equivalent (SSI, CMAS, etc.) is required to join this trip. If you're not certified, ask us about our Discover Scuba (try-dive) option instead, which includes a private instructor.
How likely am I to see manta rays?
Very likely — Manta Point's resident mantas use the site's cleaning stations year-round, with sighting rates typically above 90%. Sightings aren't guaranteed on any single day, as they depend on conditions, but this is one of the most reliable big-animal encounters in Indonesia.
What's included?
Hotel pickup (select Bali areas), return speedboat transfer to Nusa Penida, all scuba equipment, a PADI-trained dive guide, lunch and drinking water. A local conservation fee (~100,000 IDR / person, collected on-site) is not included.
When's the best time to go?
Manta sightings happen year-round, so any month works for that. If you specifically want a chance at mola mola (sunfish), visit between July and October.
